When we were in Hawaii last month, we stumbled upon a new TV show on the Food Network: Chef Hunter. This show is goood. Like, I'm yelling at the TV good. The premise: fancy-shmancy restaurants looking for new executive chefs turn over their kitchens to two top candidates to see who's best for the job. The chefs have to buy the ingredients, create menu items, price them to make the restaurant money, and of course, serve them to the customers. Which is where disaster ensues. In the three episodes I've watched so far, nearly every chef has some sort of service meltdown and the owners have to come in and see what's going on. It is FASCINATING. Some chefs stay calm and collected and some totally lose it. So much more goes in to being a chef than you realize.
Anyone out there watching Chef Hunter?
