I've been working on a project at work for several years with an online Travel and Expense tool that we finally rolled out to our employees. This involved going on a road trip to some of our larger offices to train people on how to use the new system. I spent a few days in Denver in August and then in September had road trips to Tulsa, Rock Springs and Vernal. I know . . .you're jealous.
First up was my trip to Tulsa.
It's crazy to fly in over such flat land with no mountains and you can see forever. Although, we weren't flying in sideways, I should have changed the direction of this pic before I added it . . . but you get the idea.
It's weird, but I always like to order tomato juice when I'm flying. I have it no other time but then - and oddly - I just love it.
I was greeted at the Doubletree Hotel with an offer for a warm chocolate chip cookie. Um, yes please! I asked if anyone ever said no to these, and the rep at the desk said that people turn them down all the time for various reasons. I said that was crazy . . he agreed . . . and slipped me another cookie. This trip was off to a great start!
I got in late and the person I was traveling with had already eaten dinner, so I opted for room service and it was fantastic!
I got this sandwich and fries with the cutest bottle of ketchup . . . and of course had to take a picture to document it.
The next day it was off to the office for training and I decided that if I ever need to relate for work, the Tulsa office is where it's at. The management and employees are so friendly . . . they told us it's the southern hospitality. And, everyone is in offices with floor to ceiling windows that overlook the whole city. Not to mention, the office just looks nicer than the other locations - like a real oil and gas office.
The ladies in the office took my travel buddy and I to lunch at a nearby restaurant. Check out this lunch special. It was crazy good and I could only finish part of it . . so sad.
Then, we were off. The hotel got us transportation back to the airport. When we got in, they had complimentary Perrier water, magazines and snacks. Hmm . . . we wondered how much this ride was going to cost us.
A few weeks later, it was off to Wyoming. I had my beloved hair appointment on the day I was to leave for Rock Springs. . . so I did that after work and then took off on the drive by myself and I would meet my co-worker, who was flying in from Denver, at the hotel in Rock Springs.
There wasn't too much to see on the drive, but the sunset was nice.
The next day, we pulled up into the parking lot of our Rock Springs office and wondered, is this where they really work? Indeed it is. We've gotten spoiled in our downtown offices.
After our training there, my travel buddy and I headed together to the booming metropolis of Vernal, Utah.
We stopped at Flaming Gorge on our way. I was glad to see it as part of this trip and glad I didn't make a special trip to see it. :)
We were pretty excited when we got to our hotel and there were all sorts of groceries that we could buy. After a dinner at Cafe Rio, we opted for some ice cream and a movie in the room before our training the following day.
Turns out that we came on a great day. A vendor was cooking up the Vernal office a steak lunch as a thank you for their business.
Check out these barbecues they brought to cook everything on
And, they gave out these hats to everyone. Who knew that the camo would be the most popular.
On our way out of town, I had to stop by the pink dinosaur for a quick pic. When I was a little girl, we had a family trip to Vernal and I just loved this dinosaur and had my picture taken then. Years later, it's still there and as fabulous as ever.
It was good to see how the other offices operate . . . and now I need to figure out how to get a steak lunch at ours.
