Sunny St. George

We had a fun weekend in sunny St. George. Each year, Dad uses a timeshare over Mom's birthday week. Mom and Dad had lots of fun traveling down south. Mom loved to visit the church historical sites, see houses with wrap-around porches, go on scooter walks, enjoy the flowers and year-round warmer weather. Melinda, Kristen and I went down and joined Dad for a few days. It was nice to see and enjoy some warmer weather, which just makes you feel better.

Melinda and Kristen came to the Springs to pick me up and off we went. Kristen has the same trait a lot of the Bird men do . . . as soon as she sits down she is asleep. Just ask those who go to church with her. Here is how we started the trip . . . see how alert Kristen is peeking out from behind. I took a picture because it wouldn't last long.

Soon I saw this behind me and I cracked up laughing . . . so glad that I had gotten this picture. It started my quest to secretly grab other pictures of Kristen.

This is one of my all-time favorites

Doesn't she look so peaceful here.

And then, she's back up!

On my lap is always my huge luggage/purse, which usually needs a seat of it's own. What would a road trip be without the license plate game (love it!), my camera for quick pictures, tons of question books (which help the ride go quicker and we learn a lot of fun things about each other), and my phone/friend. We want to find a name for my phone because I love it so.

We discovered 25 Main which was a restaurant and cupcake cafe'. If you go after 7pm, the cupcakes are $1. We went every day! Melinda loved the peanut butter chocolate, I was all about the coconut, and Kristen was a fan of the vanilla/chocolate.

As long as we are all the way down to St. George, we have to go to Mesquite for the seafood buffet they have on the weekends. There is not much better than all-you-can eat crab! While we were there, Melinda had lady luck on her side and won BIG on the penny slots. We discovered our $5 investment lasts a lot longer with the penny slots. It was fun to watch Melinda and the crowd that gathered around her and the magic machine.

We also had some great pool time. We love these condos which have a family pool and an adult pool. Since most people come with families, we typically get the adult pool to ourselves and it's fantastic. There is nothing better than being on a floaty with a drink and a fun magazine on the water. We enjoyed a great session together in the St. George temple and a fun shopping trip to Vegas. Now, back to spring snow and cold weather.

Paging 1991

So the other night, I went to a thingy, and was patiently waiting for the curtain to rise so I could enjoy the show. The lights dimmed, and we were given an announcement to please turn off our cell phones, and wait for it... our pagers! Really Kingsbury Hall? A special announcement for pagers? I think they were pretty popular when I was in the fourth grade and the really cute boys had them attached to their hips in a little holster. And I think Dr. Doug Ross used one on ER 20 YEARS AGO! I don't think I could buy one even if I wanted to. I have wracked my tiny brain for 2 days, and cannot think of one person who still uses a pager. I will give the contents of my pocket--$3.16 and some lint--to anyone who can prove me wrong.

Half Your Pleasure, Half Your Fun

Something you should know about me: I try to always have gum. I like to have it and I like to offer it to others (I'm such a giver). Sometimes, however, they only take half a piece. What's the deal with that? Now I have a measly half piece that is barely enough to even freshen your breath. AND when they tore the foil wrapper, it exposed the edge of the piece that they put back! I like my gum nicely wrapped and not exposed to the elements. Further, with some careful chewing, I can make one full stick last an hour. A half stick, for some reason, seems to last maybe 15 minutes.

Today I went for a stick of gum and THIS is what I found. I couldn't even be bothered. It went right in the trash.

In My Defense, They Look Very Similar

Check out the shoes I wore the other day playing racquetball. In public.

Amazing Cowboys

Does anyone else beside me think that the cowboys, Cord and Jet, are adorable on the Amazing Race?? They are fun to watch, never remove their cowboy hats (even while bungee jumping) and always keep the language clean, "Oh my gravy!"

Girl Time

Maia celebrated her 11th birthday this week and as part of her celebration, we thought it would be fun to do an activity together. Melinda, Kristen and I, along with Maia and Emma, went for pedicures and the girls got their fingernails painted too. Maia wanted alternating bright green and pink with flowers. Emma got a light pink for her toes and a vibrant blue on her fingernails. What is an afternoon of fun without a treat?! It just can't happen . . . so off we went with our freshly painted nails to FroGurt, the place where you can choose your yogurt flavor and whatever toppings you want and then pay by weight. The girls don't mess around and got some seriously yummy toppings on theirs. It was a lot of fun . . . we love spending time with our family.

DVR Fun

I have discovered a fun show on TLC, Flowers Uncut, that follows the antics of the "rock and roll" florist, Jeff Leatham. Fun fact that Jeff is from good old Ogden, Utah and has been working and living in Paris and New York since he left. His flowers are amazing! From Eva Longoria's wedding to his Utah high school reunion, it's a good time.
