Tweeting?

I got an e-mail invite recently from someone who said that I could sign up to follow them on Twitter. I don't really get this Twitter thing, so I followed the link and got signed up with a profile so I could get their updates. I was the first one to sign up and there was just one entry . . . nothing too exciting. A few days later I checked back and there were now three entries, still nothing much going on . . . and I was still the only one following them. After that, I quickly deleted my profile. I didn't want to be the only one following them. Is that weird? It's like how I don't want to go in a store if I'm the only one there . . . awkward.

The Best Seat in Town?

I went to the movies tonight for the first time in several months. And you know what? Aside from generally always being disappointed in the movies I see, I was quickly reminded of the reasons I stay away:

1. Who was the genius who approved the marketing campaign for “Front Row Joe”? With all of the money that big studios shell out for marketing, the best they can come up with is some cat thing who wears a tuxedo, but no shoes (of course)? He scares me! And I’m happy to turn off my cell phone and buy a snack, but for the love Cinemark, please put some shoes on him! He’s probably running around with milk duds stuck in his paws, and that’s just messy.
2. Why is it that people who come two minutes before the movie is going to start think they will get the two prime seats right in the middle of the theater? Like nobody else who came in before them has thought to ask if those seats are saved. Just walk to the front row people, and don’t look back.

3. No, I am not able to scooch down for you. I don’t like to scooch in general, but I especially don’t want to scooch down for you a) when you are tardy, and 2) because then I will have to sit right next to the loud talker that I purposely created a barrier from with the empty seat next to me!

4. And speaking of loud talkers, what is with people reacting very loudly to what is happening on the screen? I’m all for a hearty chuckle when something is funny, but let’s reign it in for a non-funny preview starring John Travolta, m’kay?

5. Who keeps casting John Travolta in movies? He now ranks right up there with Robin Williams and Kevin Costner as a star whose movies I will never see. Please see Wild Hogs if you don’t believe me. You had me at Bull Durham, Kevin Costner, why did you have to make Message in a Bottle?
But, seeing Ryan Reynolds on the big screen seemed to make me forget about all of that rather quickly…

Some people worry about having enough food storage for emergencies. I worry about having a good stockpile of my beloved Rampage Trish boots and my favorite "get me through Girls Camp" deodorant. (Reference #89 and #91 of my Favorite Things) It's so hard when you fall in love with a product and then you can't find it anymore. Such is the case for these two favorites. Last fall, I stumbled onto a website where I could order more of my favorite everyday boots. I thought surely 10 pairs would be enough. They aren't the best boots - they don't last long - but I love them. Now as I see my stockpile dwindle, I have searched and don't know where to find more of them. Kristen and Melinda referenced the classic Mark Harmon, Summer School movie, suggested that I start contacting the Rampage company for anything they have got. It may be my next step.

Then as I see my supply of Soft n' Dri deodorant also coming to an end, I start to panic with that too. I went to WalMart, which always stocked it on the bottom shelf (we can't have everyone know about this), and I couldn't find it anywhere. Melinda was having the same problem, so I investigated several other stores and sure enough - it is nowhere. I started doing research online and found a source. On my doorstep when I came home yesterday was a few boxes of the good stuff. This feeds my love of having packages delivered and having stuff on hand. Now, I'm wondering if the deodorant will have the same fate as my boots. What if I can't find it again when I need more?!? Should I buy more now? When is enough enough?

When Honesty is Not the Best Policy

I got my oil changed today. Here's how it went:

Oil Change Guy: "Okay, just pop the hood and leave the keys in the ignition."
Me: (looking around for the lever) "Would you believe I don't know where the pop lever is?"
Oil Change Guy: "I would believe that very much."
