Girls Night Overnighter

We had an idea to take our nieces on an overnight outing to the Grand America.  Who knows how long these cute girls will be around to be with us - and each other - so we want to soak it in now.  We checked in and got two adjoining rooms . . . and boy, were they fun.  We had a door that opened from the hallway, and then you opened two separate doors to our rooms.  So, we were able to keep the main door closed, while going between our rooms.  The girls had so much fun with that . . . and also the phones that were everywhere (including the bathroom).  I think they spent the majority of the time just calling back and forth to each other.

While we waited for Melinda and Kristen to get off work, we ordered a snack from room service.

Then we explored the inner courtyard garden area for some photo shoots . . .

Once Melinda and Kristen made it, then it was off to dinner at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building for dinner via TRAX.  We tried our darndest to take an elevator selfie . . .

Getting excited for the train to come. . .

Once we got off of TRAX, this was a beautiful sight!

We had dinner at the Garden restaurant on the 10th floor.  It has a beautiful view of the temple and was so yummy!

After dinner, we had time to walk around Temple Square for a bit.  The flowers were absolutely beautiful!

Look at Grace holding Maia's hands.  She was loving hanging out with Emma and Maia on this outing.

Maia took these incredible pics of Grace and the tulips.

We headed back to the hotel for some fun activities together.  Kristen did a jar activity where we each decorated a jar and then were given cards to put things we loved about each other on them and then deposit them in the jars.  We took turns reading the answers to each other.  It was great to hear and to learn what we all love about each other.

Then we gave the little girls gift bags that had bath products and lotions as well as new pajamas.  Aren't these three little monkeys just the best!

We stayed up a while talking and then finally went to bed.  I don't know if much sleep happened.

The next morning we enjoyed some bath swim time.  We were hoping to enjoy the hotel pool, but that didn't work out, so the girls made the best of it in the tub.  They made beards and had so much fun with the bubbles . . . and a mermaid tail.

After cleaning up, it was off to breakfast at a restaurant in the hotel for another delicious meal.  We were still trying for that elevator selfie.

Then off to to the gardens for a few more pics before we had to leave.

Grace with her buddies . . .

We had a great time together and I think we should make it an annual event.

Communal Farm to Table Dinner

One of our favorite restaurants, Communal, offers the occasional farm-to-table dinner.  We went down to Provo to enjoy a delicious meal.

A highlight was this delicious chocolate pudding with bananas.  Ah-mazing!

Grace's 9th Birthday

We celebrated Grace's 9th birthday at Grandpa's house.

Grandpa Gary put together our traditional anagram birthday balloon.  These words definitely describe this cute girl!

G = Gracious
R = Rigteous
A = Able
C = Compassionate
E = Example

A few family pics while Grace is looking for her gifts . . .

We went shopping with Grace and she picked out this super cute white dress that she paired with a jean jacket.

Ready to blow out her candles . . .

Besties.

History of our Badge Photos

Kristen posted this history of her badge photos on Instagram, so I thought it would be fun to show mine too.

I started at Questar in 1993 and left in 2002.  I came back just as a new company split off from Questar in 2010.  I think we are all getting better with age.

My Dad: The Grass Whisperer

I've mentioned it before, but Dad really is the Grass Whisperer.  He is amazing at bringing my lawn back to life each year.  A few weeks ago, he called me at work saying he was going to put fertilizer on my lawn. I thought it was crazy since it was not supposed to rain.  And, he was going to do it on his lunch hour - and I life far away.  I continued to tell him it wasn't necessary, but he said he was doing it anyway.  I reminded him that we come by our Bird stubborn streak naturally.  Well, it didn't rain right away, but it did rain.  And, you can see that his efforts were worth it.  I have since fielded lots of questions from my neighbor as to how my grass got so green.  We need to post a notice each year of when Gary will be fertilizing.  Thanks for making me look good, Dad.
